Top Doctor
O'Connell named top doctor
Westport resident and plastic surgeon Dr.
Joseph O'Connell has been selected as one of the "Top
Doctors: New York Metro Area" for the sixth consecutive year
by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. This is the most prestigious of
the "top doctor" listings with only one in ten metropolitan
area physicians receiving this honor and even fewer are included
on a repeat basis. Inclusion in this group is an acknowledgement
of the high quality of Dr. O'Connell's practice and the esteem
in which he is held by his fellow physicians whose nominations
are an important part of the selection process.
 Dr.
O'Connell is a graduate of Cornell University Medical College
and he completed his plastic surgical training at the New York
Hospital/Cornell Medical Center. He has been chief of the Division
of Plastic Surgery at Bridgeport Hospital since 1995. He serves
on the editorial board of two medical journals and has written
numerous publications in the field of plastic surgery.
Dr. O'Connell's Connecticut practice is currently limited to
aesthetic surgery. He is certified by both The American Board
of Plastic Surgery and The American Board of Surgery. He is an
expert on surgery of the breast,
body contouring and minimally invasive
facial surgery and his current academic
interest is in refinement of the newer "short-scar"
facelifting techniques.
Dr. O'Connell is a member of the American Society of Plastic
Surgeons, The Fairfield County Medical Association, The Connecticut
State Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society of Laser
Medicine and Surgery, and the International Society of Clinical
Plastic Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American College
of Surgeons and he has been widely quoted in the media recently
on the subject of Botox. He is the plastic
surgery consultant for Westport's Derma Clinic.
A Connecticut native, Dr. O'Connell has been a Westport resident
for over a decade.
